Thieves Red is our AAA level team we offer to local hockey players for upper open level tournaments. 

Thieves Red - Thieves AAA Hockey Club 

Thieves Hockey host tryouts each year in September for our 37's Elite/MN Youth Elite League (YEL) team.

Players not chosen for the Thieves 37's team will undergo assessment for our Thieves Selects (Lower Elite) or Thieves Red (Upper Open) teams. Please be aware, not everyone is guaranteed a spot on our teams. Thieves Selects serves as both our 37's development squad and a talent pool for MN Youth Elite League (YEL) Alternate players. In the event of a requirement for additional players by the 37's, priority will be given to those from the Thieves Selects roster. For further information regarding our AAA teams, kindly refer to Thieves Selects or Thieves Red.

Following the September tryouts, if there is a need for additional players, we may hold another tryout during the President’s Day holiday in January when most Northern Minnesota schools are off.

Thieves 37's can also be chosen directly by the Thieves Hockey Club and the respective coaching staff of each age group. If you're interested in playing for the Thieves or the 37's, please contact us to plan for tryouts in September.

If you're interested in joining Thieves Hockey, you can sign up for our annual tryouts in September or schedule an EVAL Skate by completing our player interest form. One of our coaches will then reach out to learn more about your player.

2010 - 2016 AAA Teams

Cost: Approximately $650 - $850 per player dependent on tournaments and development hours.

Season: Late March – May (Spring) and August – September (Fall)

Practices: Practice times are under the direction of Thieves Coaching Staff. To accommodate traveling parents and players, we recommend two-hour sessions. Our teams draw players from across the Midwest and Canada, aiming for maximum competitiveness. Attendance at practice is encouraged but not mandatory, and it's important to note that practice fees are not included in our overall cost. Typically, teams share the expense of ice rental.

Program Details

• Practice hours are determined by Coach. (Separate Cost)
• 3 - 5 AAA Tournaments (Local) (Various by Age and Skill)
• Game and practice jerseys/socks are supplied by the team and collected after the season. We make every effort to keep AAA affordable for our players and parents.
• Dryland training and Development sessions are also available throughout the Spring and Summer at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. Please contact Thieves Hockey for more information on Thieves Development Camp. Cost is extra for Development Sessions.

* Thieves Red teams will play one to two local open tournaments and one tournament in Winnipeg OR the Twin Cities. Thieves Red tournament preference is – keep it local. If we can find a tournament that fits the local model we will do so. Travel and affordability are important to our organization. Some teams are more skilled than others and could play an Elite schedule.
